Henry Scowcroft
Agent: James Wills
Born into a family of scientists and medics, Henry Scowcroft is an experienced science writer, with a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Science Communication. Since 2003 he’s worked in a variety of roles at Cancer Research UK, all of which have centred around one thing: communicating the complex, emotive issues around cancer to a variety of audiences, including patients, the public, journalists, policy-makers and the charity’s supporters. In 2016, his partner was diagnosed with advanced bladder cancer and died shortly afterwards – an experience about which Henry has written a book – Cross Everything (Bloomsbury, 2021) – and which has led to him taking on a number of advocacy and involvement roles, including with the BMJ, and the National Cancer Research Institute’s bladder and renal research group.
