Samson Kambalu

Samson Kambalu is Associate Professor at the Ruskin School of Art and Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford. He was born in Malawi in 1975 and holds degrees in Fine Art and Ethnomusicology and a PHD from Chelsea School of Art and Design. He is the recipient of several awards for his work, which has been exhibited across the world including at the Venice, Dakar and Liverpool Biennales. His first book THE JIVE TALKER OR HOW TO GET A BRITISH PASSPORT (Jonathan Cape, Simon & Schuster US, Unionsverlag) was named winner of National Book Tokens’ Global Reads (2010), and was newly released in 2022 by September Books. He lives with his wife in Oxford, and his sculpture ‘Antelope’ currently stands on Trafalgar Square’s 4th Plinth.
