Sian Meades-Williams

Sian Meades-Williams is a PPA award-winning freelance writer, author, and poet. She’s creator of the popular media industry newsletter Freelance Writing Jobs which is read by tens of thousands of writers each week. Alongside the newsletter, in 2025 she launched the New Directions Bursary, which supports writers branching out and creating new writing projects. She’s also a regular public speaker, most recently as the keynote for the Publisher Newsletter Awards.

Alongside her own projects, Sian’s travel and lifestyle features have been published by the New York Times, National Geographic, and Sunday Times. For two years she wrote a column called The Happy Freelancer for women’s writing magazine Mslexia.

She continues to work on her fiction alongside longer non-fiction projects and her historical novel Belville won the 2022 Yeovil Literary Prize.
