Gary Finnegan is an award-winning journalist and fiction writer living in county Kildare, Ireland. His short stories have been published in The London Magazine, Litro, Howl, ROPES, The Ogham Stone and elsewhere.

He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize twice and was a finalist in the London Independent Story Prize. His non-fiction book, Beijing for Beginners: An Irishman in the People’s Republic is published by The Liffey Press. Gary was one of twenty Irish writers chosen for the PEN Ireland/John Hewitt Society Freedom to Write Project 2024. Along with a degree in physiology from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in science communication from Dublin City University, he has an MA in creative writing from Maynooth University.

Gary is currently working on his debut novel.
