Barbara Nadel was born and brought up in the East End of London. Prior to becoming a full-time writer, she initially trained as an actor, followed by a degree in psychology, working in the NHS psychiatric services and in the community with people experiencing mental health problems. She is the author of the award-winning Inspector Ikmen series of crime fiction novels, set in modern Turkey. She also writes the Hakim and Arnold series which is set in the East End of London. Her historical Francis Hancock series is also set in the East End, taking place during the Blitz. She received the Crime Writers’ Association Silver Dagger for her novel DEADLY WEB (Ikmen 7), and the Swedish Flintax Prize for historical crime fiction for her first Francis Hancock novel, LAST RIGHTS. Barbara has been a regular visitor to Turkey for more than twenty-five years.
