Alice Vernon teaches Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University, Wales, where she also gained her PhD in 2018. Her main area of research is the history of medicine, particularly the representation of sleep disorders in science and culture. Alice’s forthcoming debut book, Night Terrors: Troubled Sleep and the Stories We Tell About It, aligns her research with her own experiences of strange sleep phenomena such as sleepwalking and lucid dreaming. She is also interested in comics, especially regarding depictions of the body, and gave a talk on her work in this area at the Wellcome Collection in March 2020.
