Martyn Waites was born and brought up in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Previous to being a writer he was an actor. He has written over twenty novels, including the critically acclaimed Joe Donovan series and the Tom Killgannon books. He won the Grand Prix du Roman Noir Etranger for BORN UNDER PUNCHES and THE WHITE ROOM was a Guardian book of the year. He has also written eight internationally bestselling thrillers under the name Tania Carver. He has been nominated for every major British and French crime writing award. THE OTHER PEOPLE, his first novel under the name CB Everett, was published in spring 2025 and RUSSIAN DOLL, the next one under that name, will be published in 2026. He’s currently working on a third one.
