Kai Birdsall

Agent: Hannah Weatherill

Kai Birdsall was born and raised in Yorkshire but currently lives by the sea on Gower, South Wales. She has an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing from Swansea University, alongside degrees in Applied Biology (BSc Hons) and Business (MBA).

She has had a successful and varied career in roles within Public Relations, as a university lecturer and several corporate positions within programme management. She has also run successful businesses in consulting and coaching and most recently works within the NHS.

Kai’s first love has always been writing and her work has appeared in Queer Writing for a Brave New World, by the Modernist (2021), and a Welsh Tales anthology. She is often drawn to the telling of stories for those with no voice or for those individuals with untold lives. Her work is also deeply infused by her love and awe for the natural world.

Kai’s debut novel is dual-timeline historical fiction, exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals across generations.

When she is not writing, she is happiest walking the hills and mountains of the Lake District – preferably with a dog or two, or wild swimming on the coast.
