Jobs and Work Experience

Jobs

We are looking for an agency assistant to provide administrative and creative support to Megan Carroll (Literary Agent) and Gabrielle Demblon (Foreign Rights Manager). The role will be suited to a proactive and highly organised individual. The workload will be split between foreign rights and primary agenting, so an interest in both is ideal.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: processing contracts, invoices, tax forms and royalty statements; author care; reading and reporting on manuscripts; preparing submission materials; assisting with the agency’s social media; organising book fair schedules; as well as general administrative duties alongside the other agency assistants.

The ideal candidate will be efficient, enthusiastic, full of initiative, an excellent communicator, and have a broad reading taste. Previous experience in publishing, or an adjacent creative industry, would be helpful but not essential as training will be provided. We welcome applications from any individual regardless of ethnic origin, gender, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation or age. All applications will be considered on their individual merits.

This is primarily an office-based role with a degree of flexibility. The starting salary is £26,000 per annum.

Please apply with your CV and a covering letter that includes your notice period (if applicable), as well as a paragraph about a recently published book you enjoyed and why. Applications should be sent to jobs@watsonlittle.com by 30th June 2025, with interviews to be conducted in July. We reserve the right to close the recruitment process early if we have found the right candidate.
