Jobs – Agency Assistant

We are looking for an agency assistant to provide administrative and creative support to our Managing Director James Wills across his current list, and to assist him in finding new voices and talent. This role will be suited to a proactive and highly organised individual, with a passion for upmarket fiction (with a focus on crime, thrillers and mysteries) and commercial non-fiction that involves online or celebrity talent, is centred around popular culture, new trends and ideas.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: author care, reading and reporting on manuscripts, processing contracts, invoices, and royalty statements, assisting with the agency’s social media, organising book fair schedules and other business travel, as well as other office administration duties.

The ideal candidate will be efficient, enthusiastic, full of initiative, an excellent communicator, have a broad reading taste, and be proficient with social media platforms. Previous experience in publishing, or an adjacent creative industry, would be helpful but not essential as training will be provided. This is primarily an office-based role with a degree of flexibility. The starting salary is £24,000 per annum.
