Laura Palmer, publishing director for fiction at Head of Zeus, has bought two new Golden Age murder mysteries from Diamond Dagger winner Martin Edwards. Palmer signed world English rights for Darkstone Falls and Sepulchre Street, the next two books in the Racehl Savernake series, from James Wills at Watson, Little. Darkstone Falls will be out in June 2022 in hardback, trade paperback, eBook and audio, with the second book following the next year.
Set in 1930 Bloomsbury, the series stars Rachel Savernake, the daughter of a judge, and journalist Jacob Flint, who solve murders together. Head of Zeus also publisher the first two books in the series, Gallows Court and Mortmain Hall.
Palmer said: “These books are quite simply superb: Golden Age mysteries full of period detail and witty dialogue, but with a modern sensibility and packed with twists. There’s a reason Martin Edwards was awarded the Diamond Dagger, and we are very proud to publish him.”
Edwards said: “The enthusiasm that Head of Zeus have shown for the Rachel Savernake stories is hugely motivating. I’m excited about the potential of the series and thrilled to be working with publishers who share my enjoyment of ‘Golden Age Gothic’.”
