Sarah J. Coleman

Sarah creates pictures for Young Adult and middle-grade fiction, covering poetry, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, mystery, biographies and factual books with a lifelong love of ghost stories and all things creepy.

She’s illustrated books by some of the best-known writers in the children’s and adult literature canon, from Harper Lee and Emily Brontë to Malala, Lauren Wolk, Kelly Barnhill, Guillermo del Toro and bestselling author of the Aristotle & Dante books, Benjamin Alire Säenz.

She collaborates with children’s horror author Josh Allen, illustrating his first two collections of short stories, with a third in the works.

Working with ink and pixels with a love of analogue means, she draws inspiration from the illustrators of her own childhood – the likes of Charles Keeping and Victor Ambrus – while maintaining  a joyous curiosity in the work of her contemporaries.
