Aileen Izett grew up in Malaysia, in an Irish family with a long association with South-East Asia. She read Russian and French at Trinity College, Dublin. She has worked as a translator in Grenoble, a croupier and copywriter in London, and a corporate wife in Moscow.
She has written lots of short stories. THE SILENT STRANGER is her first novel – the setting inspired by a chateau in her husband’s family. THE SILENT STRANGER, in a very different form, was one of the winners of the 2007 ‘Writers and Artists Yearbook’ prize for the first 10,000 words of an unpublished novel.
