Vic Sautter
Assistant to James Wills
Vic joined Watson, Little from the TV industry where she worked as a Development Producer in Factual and Documentary programming for the better part of a decade, having got her start in Scripted development. Following a quarter-life crisis, however, she decided to make a fresh start in something she’s always been passionate about – books. She reads broadly across all genres, but is particularly drawn to dark, unnerving books that explore the boundaries of society, the nature of dread and the complexity of humanity.
In Fiction, she loves writers like Sayaka Murata, and considers Earthlings one of the greatest works of modern “weird” fiction. Other recent favourites in the dark and horror genre include Penance by Eliza Clark, A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers, and Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. When she’s not reading about cannibalism and murder, she also loves twisty, genre bending mysteries in the vein of The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, and particularly loves authors who know how nail a final act twist, such as Riley Sager and C.J. Tudor. She also follows the major prizes and reads a variety of literary and upmarket fiction, and has recently enjoyed Demon Copperhead, In Memorium and In Ascension (the latter being her favourite book of last year).
In non-fiction, she enjoys books about journeys that evoke the natural world, as well as extraordinary human accomplishment, such as Thru-Hiking Will Break Your Heart by Carrot Quinn, Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home by Heather “Anish” Anderson, and Rough Magic by Lara Prior-Palmer.
Vic is not open to submissions, but works closely with James on his list.
