Dr Victoria Buckley has been researching the literature and history of early modern England for thirteen years. She gained a PhD in English Literature from the University of Sussex in 2012, having explored the impact of the Gunpowder Plot on Shakespeare and his contemporaries, and she has expert knowledge of Jacobean England and its theatres. She is a published poet and has previously written for The Guardian. She has consulted on several historical film projects, including most recently on the BBC film Bill, released nationwide in October 2015. Victoria shares her enthusiasm for Shakespeare and seventeenth century history on Twitter and social media. She contributed to the BBC’s QI special on Shakespeare, and has been involved in several global digital Shakespeare projects with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
